I am pumped to publish our inaugural DE&I Influencers list.

This is the newest member to join the SIA family of editorial lists. I am proud of all our lists, but our Diversity Equity & Influencers – US and Canada list has certain nuances that need highlighting.

As a research and advisory firm, SIA takes its mission of informing, connecting and elevating the ecosystem to heart. Our research as discussed on page 8 indicates that staffing companies have not been entirely at the leading edge when it comes to DE&I. When it comes to the gender makeup of their leadership teams, these firms are not good examples, either.

But there are people that are — and have been — doing the hard work to move our ecosystem in the right direction. They are breaking ground. Our goal is draw attention to these professionals’ dedication to the DE&I cause. We are highlighting their stories online, providing a compass for those getting started on their journey. Plus, Associate Editor Katherine Alvarez’s cover story examines how the ecosystem is approaching the issue.

And importantly for the staffing industry, SIA Senior Editor Craig Johnson shows the role that diversity-owned staffing firms play in providing a more diverse workforce. We also have several experts weighing in on different aspects of diversity and how the industry can do it right — or at the very least, begin to have those tough conversations internally at their firms.

I hope you enjoy reading this very special issue and get inspired. My team and I look forward to your feedback.
