What are the projections for industrial staffing?

Question: With the economy improving, what does the future look like for industrial staffing?

Answer: Industrial staffing will still grow this year, but its rate of growth has decelerated from the high of 2010 when the industry was in the first throes of recovering from the recession. Industrial staffing revenue grew by 27 percent in 2010. This year it’s projected to grow by 6 percent to a market size of $29.5 billion.

The industrial staffing market reached its largest size, in terms of revenue, in 2006. Staffing Industry Analysts projects revenue will reach 99 percent of that peak in 2014 on an inflation-adjusted basis.

There’s also evidence that more buyers may be turning to industrial staffing as industrial staffing revenue growth in 2010 and 2011 was faster than the historical trend — when compared with historical correlation to gross domestic product.
