Help your employees do well by doing good.

Staffing professionals have a responsibility to help the candidates they work with make the best decisions about new job opportunities. Sometimes, that means helping them fulfill their need to be more socially responsible and giving suggestions on how their new employer can do the same.

Doing well by doing good is a goal aspired to by many socially conscious people. If you or your candidates are ready to contribute but aren’t sure how to start, review how your personal interests mesh with your job’s responsibilities, and then encourage your company to support you.

Great examples of projects spearheaded by private-sector employees with corporate support are the building of a playground in a distressed neighborhood and the creation of local recycling programs. In each case, their companies either allocated funds for the projects or allowed them to organize co-workers into volunteer groups.

than in 2001, the number of occupations heavily represented by workers 55 and
older has more than doubled, and white workers lost share of employment
in each of the 50 highest paying jobs.
