Measuring influence is tricky in the best of times. Amid Covid-19, it’s a whole other paradigm. This year as we finalised the 2020 European Staffing 100 list, one thing stood out: The honourees are going above and beyond to navigate the new normal. Displaying courage, compassion, creativity and commitment to their companies, clients and the candidate community, these professionals have done what it takes to elevate our industry.

And in the process, they helped shape an approximately €172 billion market. Who are these honourees? CEOs, entrepreneurs, strategists, researchers, attorneys, workforce specialists et al. Staffing Industry Review’s seventh-annual list has a wide variety of backgrounds and occupations, reflecting the diversity of staffing markets in Europe. The list is in alphabetical order (by surname).

This year we also introduce the Staffing 100 Europe Hall of Fame. The inaugural class comprises 14 individuals, some of whom are new to our lists but who pioneered the European staffing market. The editorial team is proud to feature these influencers. Congratulations to the 2020 honourees on both the Staffing
100 Europe and the Hall of Fame.

Also in this issue, SIA analysts explore the wide-ranging outcomes of the pandemic across Europe as well as its dampening effect on merger and acquisition activity. Further, attorney Kevin Barrow ponders how pandemic-driven commercial practices, laws and taxes will shape the European staffing market. Finally, SThree CEO Mark Dorman discusses the ongoing STEM skills shortage, and how providing opportunities to minority and underserved communities is the key to bridging the gap.

Our analysts and writers provide these insights here and at our upcoming virtual Executive Forum Europe. Hear from the experts, meet some of the Europe Staffing 100 and the SIA staff on 2-3 December. Get a glimpse into the opportunities and understand the issues in this world of work. I look forward to seeing you online.
