SIA published its first Staffing 100 list in 2011. At the time, the North American market was $105.4 billion in size. Forward to 2021 and our 10th Staffing 100 list where our 2021 honorees helped shape a $126.9 billion market. The last 10 years are a testament to the resilience of the industry and our Staffing 100 honorees.

Congratulations to our honorees — past and present. These professionals have taken their companies as well as the industry forward. It’s been a pleasure to share their success stories while raising awareness of what they can bring to the marketplace. Ten years ago, when we created the list, our hope was that this spotlight would elevate professionals in the industry — and outside.

And no one has done that better than the travel nurse. For the first time, SIA has picked a person of the year. It’s self-evident why we picked the travel nurse. The fortitude and determination shown by these professionals as they continue to race to virus hot spots have created headlines. As the pandemic spiked across the country, leaving a record number of Americans hospitalized, stories of travel nurses coming to
the rescue while putting themselves in great personal danger abound. Aided by the companies that place them, these healthcare professionals are the industry’s — and the nation’s — unsung heroes. We salute them.

Even amid Covid-19, we were honored to receive an overwhelming number of nominations for the Staffing 100. Please continue to send in your picks for this and our other lists. If your nominee did not make it this year, there is always the next. Rest assured that we vet each and every name with great care. Our editors involved in the process take this very seriously, as they do our other lists, such as the Latin America
25 and the Hall of Fame, also featured in this issue.

In addition, this issue contains our usual columns written by our staff and other thought leaders all to help you stay informed and prepared for what this economy delivers. We hope you enjoy reading the magazine. Please drop me a line to tell me what you think.
